"Cat's Meow" Catamaran

Picture
The "Cat's Meow" was designed by Derek Kesall and built by Mananan Yachts in 1988 on the Isle of Man.  Described as “the quintessence of luxury and performance” when built, she proved this to be true when she was first over the line in the 1990 A.R.C. Race from Las Palmas to St. Lucia.

She is 78' long and 35' wide.  All sail winches and furlers, including the main, are hydraulic for ease of handling.  She is equipped with an outstanding suite of navigation and sailing electronic instruments as well as communications radios.  Photos

Accommodations reflect that the Cat’s Meow is our home.  The open and spacious salon has a large dining table, sofa, La-Z-Boy recliners and a flat screen television.  The covered aft deck has two padded lounging decks, a table with chairs, and a gas grill.  The decks are wide for sunbathing while the helm is covered and the sides can be closed in bad weather.

Heating and air conditioning keep the cabin temperature pleasant during weather extremes.  Two generators and a watermaker enable the "Cat's Meow" to be as self sufficient as needed.  The 6 burner Wolf stove and 4 refrigerator/freezers can more than provide enough food for participants in the 5 staterooms.  Photos

The dinghy, called "Hairball", is a 13' Novurania with a 50 hp Honda outboard.  The Cat's Meow is equipped with two kayaks and a Switlik liferaft.
