Captains Don & LaVonne
Captain Don and Captain LaVonne are experienced delivery captains moving boats primarily to and from the Caribbean. Both Don and LaVonne hold USCG Masters licenses and have been responsible offshore for vessels up to 118 ft.
Captains LaVonne and Don emphasize safety, thorough preparation, knowledge of ship’s systems and maintenance, navigation skills including celestial and detailed attention to weather and weather routing.
Growing up, LaVonne spent entire summers waterskiing, swimming, fishing, canoeing, and power boating at her family’s cottage on Lake Wisconsin. After marrying Donald and moving to Virginia, she swapped fresh water for salt water and switched from power boating to sailing. A graduate of the University of Colorado, LaVonne enjoyed an executive management career in the health and fitness field that she most recently combined with cooking. With a degree in Culinary Arts, Chef LaVonne especially enjoys preparing healthy meals, using local fruits and vegetables and baking.
Don started boating and sailing on the lakes of Europe where he grew up. He finished school at The College of William and Mary where he could continue his love of sailing and racing on the Chesapeake. While building his career in executive management of science and technology research, Don also continued to build the skills necessary for sailtrekking.
